This afternoon, Disney announced some big changes coming to the Lightning Lane and Genie+ services. These are some pretty big changes, so whether you plan on visiting the park soon or much further down the road, you need to know how this will impact your trip.
Starting July 24th in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort, Genie+ will be renamed to Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and individual Lightning Lanes will be known as Lightning Lane Single Pass.
These name changes also come with updates that will help guests make LL plans before they arrive at the park, choose experiences and times before they are purchased, and book LL passes for multiple vacation days instead of the former day-to-day system. You can purchase a Lightning Lane Multi Pass, a Lightning Lane Single Pass, or both!
Here's some more details about how they will work:
Lightning Lane Multi Pass
When you make a LLMP purchase, you can make up to three LL selections in a theme park before your visit. You will also be able to choose available times when you make your selection. On the day of your visit, you can use the My Disney Experience app to check availability and other selections
Lightning Lane Single Pass
LLSP will work similarly to how Lightning Lane works currently, in that you can secure a time to experience one of the available attractions. However, now you can make your plans in advance!
Advance Purchase Window
Unless you are staying at a Disney Resort or another select hotel, you can make your LL plans three days in advance. If you are staying on Disney property, however, you have a full seven days to make your LL plans ahead of time.
These changes will hopefully make it easier for guests to plan ahead and anticipate costs before the day of their park visit.
